Kim Findlay Obituary

Kim Denise Winters Findlay, 56, of Carlsbad, California passed away July 13, 2019 with no pain and in complete comfort after being diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor in April of 2019.

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1975 Chestnut Avenue, Carlsbad, CA 92008 on Friday July 26, 2019 at 10 AM. Burial will follow for family members at the Eternal Hills Cemetery.

Kim was born December 7, 1962 in Santa Monica, California to Merrill and Sally Winters, now both deceased. Kim is survived by her husband Russell Findlay, two older brothers Steve and Glen Winters, her four daughters; Carissa Decker, Megan Findlay, Paige Thorne, Emma Luymes, and three grandchildren; Jameson Decker, Kate Decker, and William Decker.

Her family moved to Mission Viejo, CA in 1972. She graduated from Mission Viejo High School in 1980. Her favorite pastimes are playing the piano, camping, hiking, fishing, cooking, reading, and many different sports including: tennis, volleyball, badminton, golf, and most recently pickleball. She also loves to travel seeing the beautiful creations throughout the world.

She graduated from Brigham Young University in December 1983, majoring in Piano Pedagogy. While attending she met Russell Evan Findlay. Their first date was spent at Strawberry Lake in early May 1983, where they each caught their limit fishing in 4 hours using night crawlers and marshmallows. They quickly fell in love and got married on December 27, 1983 for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Kim Findlay is a very beautiful, loving and caring mother to her four daughters and three grandchildren. She taught her children how to trust in the Lord, how to read, how to work, how to be competitive in sports, and how to overcome challenges and trials. She always volunteered her time, talents, and service with a smile at home, at church, and in the community. Kim will be missed! Families are eternal! Until we meet again! Rest In Peace!
