Lorna Buratto Obituary

LORNA CONCETTA BURATTO – Mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend

Lorna Concetta Buratto, our beloved mother, of Carlsbad, CA, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 at the age of 76, due to a heart attack.

Lorna was born to parents Abramo and Marie (Mary) Massetti on September 25, 1942 in Vineland, NJ. She grew up as one of the twins in the middle of four children in Scranton, PA and graduated from West Scranton High School in 1960.

Lorna is survived by her three daughters, Laura Regal, Elisa Buratto, and Silvana Buratto, her two brothers, and one twin sister. She is preceded in death by her parents, Abramo and Mary.

Lorna was a fierce political supporter, lover of all animals, especially her Chihuahua Sunny. She had a fine eye for detail in clothing, furnishings, and art, enjoyed reading about extra-terrestrials, space, mystery, and detective stories, traveling and collecting jewelry and textiles from each place she visited. She was passionate about everything Italian and listening to music such as opera, jazz, rock and roll, and The Grateful Dead.

Lorna enjoyed her life in retirement and was loved by everyone in the La Costa Paloma community where she spent her final days. She especially enjoyed being surrounded by the babies, children, and pets of the families in her community offering treats for the holidays and watching them grow up. She was loved by all and will be missed by many.

There will be no viewing and the cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be kept in loving memory with her daughters. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations.

We invite everyone to post comments, graphical sentiments, upload photos, embed videos, light a candle, and share condolences, remembrances, and memories on this tribute wall by clicking on Tribute Wall. September 25th is her birthday. Lorna’s Tribute Wall will be viewed daily by her family.

One of the songs Lorna enjoyed most was performed by opera singers, Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, called Time to Say Goodbye. Here are the lyrics she would most like that we think of in memory of her life as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend.

Time to Say Goodbye - lyrics

When I’m alone

I dream on the horizon

and words fail;

yes, I know there is no light

in a room where the sun is absent,

if you are not with me, with me.

At the windows

show everyone my heart

which you set alight;

enclose within me

the light you

encountered on the street.

Time to say goodbye

to countries I never

saw and shared with you,

now, yes, I shall experience them.

I’ll go with you

on ships across seas

which, I know,

no, no, exist no longer.

It’s time to say goodbye…

When you are far away

I dream on the horizon

And words fail,

and, Yes, I know

that you are with me;

you, my moon, are here with me,

my sun, you are here with me,

with me, with me, with me.

Time to say goodbye

To countries I never

Saw and shared with you,

now, yes, I shall experience them.

I’ll go with you

On ships across seas

which, I know,

no, no, exist no longer,

with you I shall experience them again.

I’ll go with you

On ships across seas

Which, I know,

No, no, exist no longer;

with you I shall experience them again.

I’ll go with you,

I with you.
