Mildred Alford Obituary

Mildred Virginia Alford passed away on December 30, 2018 at the age of 89 after a full and wonderful life. Mildred was born in San Diego, California on July 18, 1929 and  was raised in La Jolla by her parents, Charles Edward and

Nannie May Hobbs, with her brother, Clark, and sisters, Shirley and Sharon. Millie graduated from La Jolla High School, Class of 1947.  She married her high school sweetheart, Don Alford, and together raised 3 daughters, Donna, Jerri, and Susan, in Clairemont.

Millie loved painting, traveling, going fishing, taking pictures, and daily walks around the Clairemont Square shopping center.  Every day on her walk, she would scoop up any change found on the sidewalk and keep it all in a container until the end of the year when she would donate it to different Christian ministries. Millie was a devout Christian and would watch The 700 Club every day. She was kind and caring and loved God, her family, and friends.

Mildred is survived by her sister, Shirley Meyers, daughters Donna (Robert) Gladden and Susan Keim, son-in-law, John Horning, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and sister, Sharon, daughter, Jerri, and her husband of 67 years, Donald E. Alford.
