Agnes Lona Schwaar

Agnes Lona Schwaar passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, in Escondido CA on May 26th, 2018 at the age of 93.  She was born in Mona Utah on November 2nd, 1924 to Alton Ephraim Ellertson and Verdie Helena Cheney Ellertson. She had a very happy childhood with her two brothers, Wells Ephraim and John Winslow. Agnes graduated from Juab High School and soon after was recruited to make radio tubes at Eitel McCullough Plant to help the war efforts.  Later, she attended Brigham Young University and became a school teacher. Agnes married Walter Leslie Schwaar on March 14th, 1947 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. During their married lives, they lived in Salt Lake City Utah, the San Francisco Bay area, Bountiful Utah, Naperville IL, Ogden Utah, and eventually settled in Escondido California where they started the Light Gallery in 1979 in which she continued to be involved throughout her life. Agnes spent her life in service within her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and her community. She is survived by her brother, John Winslow Ellertson, her three children, Joni Lee Teerlink (Val), Suzanne Schwaar Neilsen (Chris), and Steven Leslie Schwaar. Her greatest treasures were her nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother taught us compassion for all, unselfishness, goodness, and love. She was a faithful daughter of God.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 11am with a visitation from 10:00 to 10:45. It will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2255 Felicita Road, Escondido 92029. Agnes will be laid to rest in the Mona Cemetery in Mona, Utah.
