Alice Elaine Dodd passed away on January 25th due to complications immediately following a surgical procedure. She was 85 years old. Alice is survived by her beloved son Keith Thomas, daughter-in-law Kathryn, and granddaughters Elena and Jenna as well as her sisters: Nancy Fausel, Susan Peterson (Al), Cynthia Smith (Steve) and an impressive number of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Jewel Perry, Jewel's husband Jim, Nancy's husband Ray, and devoted husband Dennis Gooler.
A talented professional singer/actress in her youth, Alice continued with both in retirement including time spent with the San Diego Master Chorale, Rhapsody Singers, Chalice Congregation and several groups at her home community of Casa de las Campanas in Rancho Bernardo. She was well known for her great spirit, generous nature and wonderful soprano voice. She will be greatly missed by her wide circle of friends, and fellow performers, stretching from the West Coast to her hometown of Chicago, and beyond.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday, February 9th at California Funeral Alternatives - 1020 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Escondido CA. There will also be a memorial service and a celebration of her life at 5:00pm on Saturday, February 10th at the Chalice Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 2324 Miller Avenue, also in Escondido.
