Andrea Kay Sheldon

Andrea Kay Sheldon age 40, formerly of Poway, California, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 22, 2020.

In 1998 she received her certificate of completion from Poway High School and a transition program through PUSD in 2001. She attended Community Options and Employment from 2001-2016 where she was employed by Chicken Pie Diner, Vons Grocery Store, and Pat and Oscar’s Restaurant.

She volunteered at numerous organizations throughout San Diego County. In 2016 Andrea moved to La Mesa, California where she was a co-resident of Mount Helix Group Home. During her residence in La Mesa, Andrea attended St. Madeleine’s Sophie Center, holding a position on the self-advocacy board and participating at Sophie’s Art Gallery. In February, 2018, Andrea was chosen as the artist of the month in celebration of her love for all art medium.

Andrea enjoyed participating in several sports through the Special Olympics, Sports for Exceptional Athletes, Poway Challenger Basketball and Baseball and was an avid bowler at Poway Fun Bowl. In summer months, Andrea was very fond of swimming for the Special Olympic swim team and surfing while attending Windansea Surf Club’s Day at the Beach. During winter months, Andrea was involved in ice skating, skiing, and snowshoeing.

Above all other activities her love for music, dancing, and art brought her the most joy. Her close friends, extended family and community enriched her life as well as the lives of all who met her.

Andrea is survived by her parents, Robbin and Bonnie Sheldon, her sister, Brady Lucidi, brother-in law Michael Lucidi, nieces Matisse and Emerson Lucidi, nephew and godson, Benjamin Lucidi, as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Celebration of Life will be held at Templar’s Hall in Old Poway Park on

Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 11:00am - 1:00pm.
