Anthony Carl Johnson was born on July 19, 1953, in Jackson, Mississippi to the late George Henry Johnson, Sr. and Wilma Jean Davis. Anthony, Carl as he was known to some and Tony as he was known to others, graduated from Provine High School in Jackson, Mississippi in 1971.

He went on to enlist in the United States Navy in 1972. He would go on to serve in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Anchorage LSD-36, the most decorated dock landing ship on the west coast, and later on the USS Pluck MSO-469. Throughout his Naval career, Anthony received several awards including a National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation. He went on to achieve the rank of Petty Officer Second Class before leaving the Navy.

After his military service, Anthony resided primarily in San Diego, California. He had a generous heart and a kind spirit. He had dreams of running a non-profit dedicated to eliminating veteran homelessness and supporting widows and orphans of veterans. Anthony accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age and deeply loved God, his children, and his family.

Anthony passed away on December 21, 2020, in San Diego, California at age 67. He was predeceased by his mother Wilma and father George, his brother’s George Johnson, Jr., and Johnnie Johnson. In lieu of flowers, his children request love offerings be made to help contribute to finalizing their father's affairs, to support them in other ways as they coordinate things from out of state during a pandemic, and/or for his grandson's Damian and Jalen as they all cope with this devastating loss of during the holiday season. Those can be accepted here https://everloved.com/life-of/anthony-johnson.
