Brian Douglas Stephens was born in Aurora, Illinois, the third child of Lowell and Janice Stephens on November 14, 1959. He moved to Colorado in 1965 and to California in 2003.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Lechman, and two brothers, Mark Stephens and Paul Stephens.
While Brian never married, he was a generous family man. His three siblings provided him with five nephews and four nieces, whom he loved. Their memories of Brian unanimously remark on his kindness is allowing them to play with his car collection when they were young. Also, how he loved his music and records, and what a good baker he was.
He never missed an opportunity to call family members to wish them happy birthday, almost always singing the full rendition of the birthday song to wish them well.
He had an amazing memory for dates in history, songs, cars facts, phone numbers and recipes. He worked at King Soopers for 20 years, working up from a box boy to a cashier. It seemed he memorized every item and price in the store.
Brian was a gentle soul who was always aware of those in need around him.
Brian loved Manitou Springs, Colorado. In particular, he was enamored with Christmas and a small amusement park called the North Pole that is just outside of Manitou. He spent most of his youth and adult life in Colorado.
He will be missed. Brian passed away on December 5 in San Diego.
