Carole Anne Borries, 86, passed away on February 19, 2023, in her residence at Oakmont of Escondido Hills. She was the widower (widow) of Hugh Richard Borries. They shared 39 years of marriage together.
Born in Los Angeles, she was the eldest daughter of Cecil and Elizabeth (Betty) Zachary. She graduated from Montebello High School in 1952. She was employed at the Montebello Fire Department and worked as the Executive Secretaryto the Fire Chief for over 27 years.
She was a member of Whittier First Friends Church. Carole was a lifelong member of P.E.O. International, a sisterhood organization in support of the education of women; and she was the president of the Montebello Chapter. As an accomplished artist, she was a member of both East Whittier and Montebello Art Associations. She enjoyed painting in watercolor, traveling the world, and playing bridge. She will be remembered for her bright, friendly, warm, and inquisitive personality. She could light up a room and become everyone's best friend by the end of the evening.
She is survived by her three children, Gregory Borries of Memphis, Tennessee, Robert Borries of Whittier, and Jennifer Gilbride of Poway, California. Carole has two grandchildren by her daughter Jennifer and Daniel Gilbride: Thomas residing in Colorado and Kaitlyn a student at University of California - Berkeley.
The memorial service will be held on March 11th, at 1:00 pm, at Community Church of Poway located at 13501 Community Rd. Poway, CA 92064. Carole's Interment will be conducted on March 17th at Riverside National Cemeterv and will be held as a private affair.
