Collin Robert Kolberg
March 7, 1996 – April 4, 2026
Collin Robert Kolberg, 30, of Escondido, California, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026. Born in San Diego on March 7, 1996, Collin spent his life in Escondido surrounded by family, friends, and the animals he loved so much.
Collin graduated from Escondido High School and worked in fabrication at Bilstein. He will be remembered as thoughtful, curious, and always willing to explore something new—especially when it came to food. An adventurous eater, he loved pho and never passed up his mom’s chicken and dumplings.
Collin had many unique hobbies and passions, but nothing brought him more joy than animals. Over the years he cared for many pets, including his fish, bunnies Ricky Bobby and Clyde, his frog Charlie, and his beloved dogs Shadow and Harley. From racing RC cars to fixing up motorcycles and endless cars or building a new Lego, Collin was always looking to keep his hands and mind busy.
He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin, and friend. Collin is survived by his parents, Rob and Nicki Kolberg; his sister and brother in law, Corynn and Anthony; and his niece and nephew, along with many extended family members who loved him deeply.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers at UCSD and Elizabeth Hospice for the kindness they showed Collin and our family.
A memorial bench has been placed in Collin’s honor at the San Diego Safari Park. We are grateful to the loved ones who helped make this tribute possible. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Collin by visiting the San Diego Zoo or Safari Park and enjoying a cold beverage with the sand cats or capybaras.
Collin will be deeply missed and forever loved. We know he is at peace with his animals outside in the sunshine looking down on us.
