Dan Tyler Obituary

Dan Paul Tyler of Valley Center passed away Saturday May 16, 2020 in Escondido, CA at the age of 73 years. Dan was born July 19, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa to Paul and Lois Tyler. After his father passed away, he moved with his family to California at the age of 10 years and grew up in Escondido, and made Valley Center his home since 1985.

Prior to his retirement, Dan worked for Superior Ready Mix for many years and many of his coworkers were like family to him. Dan was intelligent and talented and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed building and racing the cars he built. He became a licensed painting contractor and owned his own business. His hobbies included photography, model boating and airplanes, sport shooting and archery, and spending time with family and friends, which he had many. Above all, his family was most important to him and he always ensured they were cared for and felt loved. For the past three years, the greatest joy of his life was his grandson, Logan.

Dan is survived by his wife of 35-years, Kathleen, his daughter, Katy, and son-in-law, Kevin Metros, M.D., and grandson, Logan Metros. He lost his beloved daughter, Shannon, in 2009. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Lois, and brother, Douglas.

Dan is also survived by his brother Joe (Deborah) Creed, Lisa (Ken) Donaldson, sister-in-law Donna (Bud) Freas, his Aunt, Betty Mackey of Katy, Texas, and many cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.

Dan was very loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
