Diane Hagen, age 71, of Escondido, passed away from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on August 28, 2024. She was born in Washington D.C. on April 11, 1953 to Howard and Reba Spiegel. Diane lived in Florida before moving to California in 1968. She was active in a Fraternal Youth Group, Rainbow Girls. Diane graduated from Kearny High School in 1972 and San Diego State University in 1977, where she studied Business Administration. She worked at Tony Loduca Construction and Leatherock of San Diego, and also ran her own bookkeeping business. Her passions included country music, line dancing, and Zumba.
Diane was dedicated to her family. Diane met her husband, Dan, at a Folk Dance class in San Diego. They've been happily married for 46 years. Diane was known for organizing numerous family outings and gatherings. She took great joy in watching her children and grandchildren participate in their favorite activities. Dan and Diane dedicated much of their time to their children throughout their lives and made it a priority to visit their grandchildren regularly.
Diane had a deep passion for travel, always planning extensive family trips and ensuring every destination was fully explored. Despite her illness, Diane exhibited perseverance and resilience. She continued working as a part time bookkeeper and taking various weekend trips until just 4 months before her passing. She remained determined to stay active and hopeful, inspiring those around her with her strength and optimism.
A Memorial Service to honor Diane’s life will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park on September 16th at 1:00 pm. Her memory will live on through the love she shared and the lives she touched.
Diane is survived by her husband, Daniel Hagen, children Francine and Wayne, son-in-law Jason, grandchildren Frederick and Elizabeth, and sisters Marsha and Rita Spiegel.
