Frank Farris Stuart, age 79, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2023, in San Rafael, CA.
He was born in Montgomery, AL, on August 10, 1943, to the late Mary Ann Farris Robbins and the late Matthew Hugh Stuart. Frank graduated from Peabody Demonstration School. Before attending college, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army, Stationed at Ft. Ord in Monterey. He completed his initial training before enrolling at Foothill College. Upon receiving his A.A. degree he matriculated at San Jose State, where he graduated with a B.S. degree. While in school he was involved in student government and was a cheerleader.
After working several years in California within the restaurant business, he relocated to Atlanta, GA, where he worked the family’s oil business, Peach State Oil Company, until the locations were sold. At that point Frank moved to Panama, City, FL. Being very independent, Frank started his own business, Gulf Coast Marble, which he operated for many years. His company fabricated and installed cultured marble products in both commercial and residential properties throughout the Panhandle of northern Florida. Frank lived a long and productive life. He loved fishing, boating, golf, and football.
Frank was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Anne Stuart. He is survived by his grandchildren Chelsea White (Chas) San Diego, CA, Vincent Kunkel (Jenifer) San Diego, CA, great-grandchildren Michael and Amaya Kunkel, his brothers Matthew Hugh Stuart Jr., San Anselmo, CA, Edgar W. Stuart (Hettie), Nashville, TN, and David Winter Stuart (Mary), St. Louis, MO, and his step-sister Marina Robbins Rainer (Eddie), Aspen, CO. The family wants to recognize that Frank’s life was enhanced by the stalwart friendship of John and Karen De Groot.
