Georgia Lola Koston passed away peacefully at her Vista home on June 27, 2018. She was 95. Born in San Diego on May 6, 1923, Georgia Downs grew up on a farm with her sister Florence. After graduating from Sweetwater High where she was a cheerleader, she attended college before joining the Navy at North Island. It was there, on a blind date, that she met Bernard Koston, the love of her life, whom she would blissfully wed in July of 1946. After 2 years in the Navy, Georgia worked for the phone company before starting a family. Her favorite vocation was that of homemaker. She dedicated her life to Bernie and their two children, Gary and Nancy. Thanks to Georgia, the family always had dinners together, clothes were sewn, dress shirts were starched and ironed, and the house constantly smelled of delicious baked goods. One of her great enjoyments in life was watching her 6 granddaughters and 4 great grandchildren grow. Georgia enjoyed trailering around the country with her "Six A Packa Tribe" and was an avid bridge player. Georgia and her quick wit, were always the life of the party. In her later years, she enjoyed sewing, having a glass of wine at holiday gatherings, baking the best apple pie in town and, of course, spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Bernie, her two children, her 5 granddaughters and 4 great grandchildren. Georgia will be missed by all she touched with her selfless, loving and sweet spirit. My Lord is calling, so love me, but let me go.
