Gloria June Swerdlow, 94, of San Diego, passed away peacefully at her home on December 2, 2025. She was a loved mother, grandmother, and friend, and her presence will be missed.
Gloria was born in Modena, Pennsylvania, on June 8, 1931, to Paul and Lucy Kropp. She started a career in nursing, then married Robert Cordier, began a family, and in time moved to California. After a divorce, she returned to nursing with Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento as a single mother of six, where she eventually met and married Ralph Swerdlow.
After retiring, she enjoyed traveling and continuing to collect four-leaf clovers. Her other interests included her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage, whales, the Snoopy cartoon character, and the Maxine character (whose personality sort of matched hers). And her beloved dog, Mozart, who predeceased her.
Gloria is survived by her children, Robert Cordier, Jr. of San Diego, California; Clifford Cordier of Kirkland, Washington; Gregory Cordier of Sacramento, California; Lizbeth Cordier of Rocklin, California; Brian Cordier of Medford, Oregon, her grandchildren, Ryan and Sasha, and her great grandson, Oliver. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Lucille, Monte, Paul Jr., Edward, and Betty Lou; a daughter, Lynda Cordier, and her devoted husband, Ralph Swerdlow.
No services are planned and, at her request her ashes will be scattered at sea off the cost of San Diego.
