Helen Reimer Obituary

Helen Reimer passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023 at the age of 86 in Escondido, California. She was born on January 13, 1937, in San Diego, California.

Helen was a wonderful mom, grandma, and friend. She cherished spending time with family and friends and was blessed to be actively involved in their lives.

Helen was the second child of three to be born to her late parents William and Helen Renison. Although they did move around a bit when she was a child, the family eventually settled in Escondido in the early 1950’s.

Helen met her husband, Richard, in Escondido and they were married in 1960. Helen leaves behind her son Jeff, who is married to Amy. Together, they have two children, Brooke and Joseph. Helen is also survived by her daughter Beth, and her younger brother Robert.

Helen worked in the retail/clothing business from her early twenties until she retired in her seventies. She loved helping her clients find the perfect outfits for any and all occasions. Her love for clothes was apparent as she was always dressed perfectly for any occasion. That love for clothes and fashion was definitely passed down to her daughter.

When Helen wasn’t working, she loved to be outdoors and be in the sunshine. She loved to swim, play tennis, and golf. Her love of the water and golf was passed to her son, Jeff, who was on the swim team, water polo team, and also played golf. Helen loved tennis as well and played several times a week. Her love for tennis was passed on to her daughter, Beth, who still plays occasionally. She built lasting friendships through her passion for sports.

Helen also loved being outside in the garden. She had a green thumb and could plant anything, and it would grow. She lovingly tended to her plants and flowers whenever she could. If Helen wasn’t outside, she could be found inside sewing, making quilts or knitting. In the early 60’s and 70’s Helen would sew many of her own clothes and also for her children when they were young. She also was talented at knitting and made several sweaters over the years. Helen was also very skilled at quilting. She was part of many quilting groups through church and also made quilts for her family, which will be cherished by them for years to come.

Throughout the years Helen also traveled quite a bit. She would visit family on the East Coast, Oregon, Washington, and New Mexico. She traveled to Hawaii a few times and also went on a wonderful adventure to China.

Westminster Presbyterian Church was her church, and it was an integral part of her life. She attended services each Sunday and had many lifelong friends there. She found comfort and strength in her worship and fellowship throughout the years.

While we mourn Helen’s passing, we find solace in knowing that she has been reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband Richard, her older brother Bill, and her granddaughter Faith. Helen, or “Tomi” as family affectionately knew her, will be missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
