Jai McClelland

Jaikour (Jai) Singh Sidhu McClelland was welcomed to the Kingdom peacefully on December 27th, 2024 at the age of 57 surrounded by her family and pets. Her smile was bright and the accompanying giggle was something that filled every room she was in with joy.  Her calming words, gentle touch, and prayers were given in abundance and unselfishly.  She was a loving wife, an incredible mother to her two daughters, and was beyond thrilled to welcome her first grandbaby to the family in March, 2025.

Jai was born in Calexico, CA. She spent her childhood years in the Imperial Valley (El Centro) where she was proudly associated with the Sikh Temple. Her immediate family eventually resided in the Coachella Valley (Indio). Jai graduated from Indio High School in 1985, then went on to receive her bachelor's degree in education. Using her degree and credentials, she proudly and passionately taught hundreds of pupils at Magnolia Elementary School within the Carlsbad Unified School District.

Jai loved live music and dancing (especially to her favorite band “The English Beat”).  She loved the ocean, dolphins, praising the Lord, and cheering for her San Diego Padres down at Petco Park. She spent her free time reading, watching movies, and always loved being with her family and loved ones.  

She is survived by her best friend and husband Steven McClelland; Her daughters Kiran McClelland (fiance Joe Morris), and Kenzie McClelland; Future granddaughter Kalyani Jai Morris; Brothers Mike, Nick, and Lal Sidhu; along with many other in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceded in death by her mother Mary (Sidhu) Marin and stepfather “Papa” Dave Marin, mother in-law Jayne McClelland, as well as her father Dosant (John) Sidhu.

May her love, smile, and spirit live forever in our hearts. 

Jai’s Celebration of Life 

Date: Saturday, January 11th at 12:00 pm. 

Location: Ocean Palms Beach Resort - 2950 Ocean Street, Carlsbad, CA 92010

Entrance: Doors are on the backside of the resort, on the North end of Garfield Street

Parking: There will be street parking around the resort and a paid parking lot across the street from the entrance on Garfield Street. 

**In honor of Jai, we are having a “purple” themed celebration, her favorite color. 

Dress is casual, Kiran, Kenzie, and I look forward to spending time with the ones that are able to join us. Thank you VERY much!
