Janet M. Dopp

Janet M. Dopp, 82, of Escondido, CA passed away peacefully on January 8,
2025. Janet was born in East Chicago, IN to John and Frances Bochnowski.
She graduated from Gary Edison High School in Northwest Indiana and attended
Ball State University & Indiana University. Later, she earned a B.S. in Business
Administration from Southland University.
Janet married William F. Dopp on September 8, 1962. Shortly thereafter, they
moved to New York City and started a family. Eventually, the family settled in
Southern California where Janet began a career in human resources. While a
Director of Human Resources at Point Loma Federal Credit Union, Janet earned
a SPHR professional designation. After a 20+ year career, Janet retired.
In retirement, Janet maintained an active lifestyle. She was a member of the
Escondido Women’s Club, the Red Hat Ladies, and a parishioner at the House of
Prayer Lutheran Church.
Her favorite activity was golfing. Weather permitting, she made a point to golf
once a week and was known to win a medal or two at local senior golf outings.
From her perspective, the best part of golfing was being with friends and sharing
the experience.
Janet traveled extensively with her husband. She took several cruises in the
Caribbean as well as trips to Europe, Africa, and Asia. Her last big trip was to
Alaska with her husband to celebrate their 50 th wedding anniversary.
Janet is survived by her sons, Douglas F. Dopp and William J. Dopp; her sister,
Marie Elizondo; brother-in-law, Ed Elizondo; brother-in-law, Jack Dopp;
grandchildren, Alexandra I. Dopp, John C. Dopp, and Sabrina E. Dopp; and
daughter-in-law, Mary Lyons-Dopp. A memorial service for Janet will be held at
the House of Prayer Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11.00am
PT. The church is located at 795 N. Rose Street, Escondido, CA 92027. In lieu
of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Huntsman Cancer
Institute in Janet’s memory.
