Jennifer Slack Pate

On Saturday, March 20th, 2021, Jennie Slack Pate passed away peacefully in her sleep in San Diego, marking the end of her long battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving partner Kerry Watts, her sons Michael Pate and David Thornton, her daughter Ariana Thornton Biggs, son-in-law Travis Biggs, sisters Michelle Slack Welling and Cricket Slack, mother Dora Camilla Slack, and her beautiful granddaughter Camilla Biggs.

Jennie will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, and as a font of hope and positivity to all who struggled alongside her. She was a source of strength for her fellow cancer patients, and lit up the room when she walked into treatment. She never stopped fighting, never stopped believing, and never stopped loving.

As a lifelong nurse, she understood the fight that was ahead of her when she first received her diagnosis. She faced it head on, and never once faltered in her faith, never once showed an ounce of fear. She was a force of nature. An ontological fact.

That's simply who she was. Unapologetically herself at all times. From the girl who failed homeroom because she kept dancing on her desk and singing Meatloaf's "Bat Outta Hell", to the woman who sang Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" to her children as a lullaby. She loved bowling, karaoke, crafting, and more than anything, she loved her family. 

There was nobody quite like her, and she leaves behind a legacy of friends, family, and memories that will ensure she's never truly gone. She will be missed, but she will never be forgotten.
