Jessie passed away peacefully of Sepsis and complications from diabetes on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Palomar Hospital, Escondido, CA 92027. Jessie is survived by his sisters Maria Newton, Terry Larssen and Angelita Reyes, brother Augustine Garcia Jr., and many relatives and friends throughout AZ, CA, MO, MX, OK and WA.
We celebrate the life of our brother Jessie. He was the 3rd oldest of seven. Our beloved mother Lola B. Garcia and brothers Miguel and Robert have gone before. As the youngest member of our family, I can recall attending his high school graduation and seeing him in his US Army uniform that he so proudly wore serving our country. There are many veterans like Jessie suffered from PSTSD, alcoholism, drug addiction, mental illness and physical hardships. He became estranged from the family and homeless the last ten years of his life. The Escondido medical and social communities strived to help him but to no avail. He couldn't keep himself stable or in permanent housing long enough to get the help he needed.
Today, we honor our brother Jessie into the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ. My brother Augustine and our cousin Jenny M. had the opportunity to share the love of Christ with him and he was very open to God's love. Now, Jessie is no longer in pain or suffering from all his health ailments. Most importantly, he was cared for by the medical staff of Palomar Hospital and was comfortable until he took his last breath of life.
We thank and appreciate all the people who were involved in making Jessie's life an easy transition. Also, grateful to the good Samaritan who called 911 to get him the help he needed.
