John was born in San Rafael, New Mexico, to Merced G. Baca and Cipriana Baca on July 18th, 1933; the fifth eldest of six children. John was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed going to his Sunday services at Miraculous Medal church in Montebello Ca. and All Souls Church in Alhambra Ca.
John's passion on his days off, were the horse races. Anyone who new John new he liked to handicap especially at his favorite track: Santa Anita. He also loved driving down to Del Mar to enjoy the ocean breeze because it brought back fond memories of his Navy travels.
John will be lifted up at the Church of the Resurrection in Escondido at all services on February 13, 2022
