Our devoted husband and father, John Samuel Bojorquez (77) lost his courageous battle with cancer on March 21, 2024, at his home in Valley Center, CA while surrounded by his family. He was born in Flagstaff, AZ on January 6, 1947 to John C and Jennie J and was one of 8 children. After high school, John went on to earn his Bachelor's in Education at Northern Arizona University. While working full time and raising a family, he later earned a Master's degree from USIU in San Diego.
John met the love of his life, Josie Almaraz, at NAU in Flagstaff where they dated for four years. A pivotal year, 1971, included graduating from college, getting married, relocating to California, and beginning a distinguished teaching career. He taught at Grant Middle School (now Mission) for 5 years and then moved to Central Elementary School, both in Escondido, and his teaching career lasted 35 years before retiring in 2006. He made many friends and touched countless lives as a teacher and in his personal life.
After retirement, John thoroughly enjoyed his family and friends with whom he shared an endless supply of jokes and stories. His other hobbies included manicuring his property which involved fighting all varieties of pests, attending church, and caring for his beloved pets. John never met a stranger, had boundless energy, was a dependable father and friend, always showing up to offer a helping hand.
John was preceded in death by his loving parents and older brother, David. He is survived by his wife Josie, sons John (Jessica) and Eddie (Kellye), and siblings, Ernestine, Ray (Rosie), Albert (Sylvia), Charles (Mary), Anita (Dale), and Margaret.
