John N. Roberts

John N. Roberts, 68, of Escondido, passed away on Saturday, January 30th, 2021, from pancreatic cancer. 

His mom, Evelyn was a Kansas farm girl who moved to the big city, Chicago, where John was born and grew up.  As a teen John enjoyed playing basketball, watching the Cubs, and playing drums. He worked in record stores and a law firm before moving to London to put a band together. While living in England, he met Cathee Dyer, and their son Christian was born. John returned stateside to attend college. He received his Finance degree at Metro State University. During this time he met and married Liz. They moved to Kansas so John could study Law. He received his JD from Washburn, and passed the Kansas bar exam. He worked with the Attorney General's office and the Kansas Lottery.  His family grew when he and Liz had 2 daughters, Claire & Rachael. The family was enticed to relocate to San Diego for John’s work. Over the last 30 years John worked in the gaming industry, and held various leadership roles at multiple casinos from coast to coast. John always considered San Diego his home, and returned to enjoy his home and family.

He enjoyed concerts, attending his daughter’s soccer games, FFA events, and taking the dogs to the beach. He loved his garden and spent hours enjoying the view, while keeping in contact with friends on Facebook.  He will always be remembered for his funny sense of humor, big smile, enthusiasm, appreciation of life, and never ending tales.

John is survived by Christian Dyer, Cathee Dyer, Claire (Roberts) Alvarado, Rachael Roberts, John’s life long love Liz Roberts, and constant canine companion, Max.
