John D. "Max" Maxwell

John David “Max” Maxwell passed May 12th, 2019 at Palomar Medical Center while surrounded by family.

He was born May 2nd, 1954 in Van Nuys,CA to Robert Maxwell and Virginia Sullivan Maxwell as the 7th of 10 children. John’s family moved back to Montclair, New Jersey shortly after he was born. Growing up John enjoyed playing lacrosse at Montclair High School and Rugby after graduation.

After high school, he served in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1974. John married Monica Padilla in San Diego on October 28th, 1981. John worked for many years as a home appraiser in San Diego County. He was a fan of lacrosse and the New York Yankees. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his deep family devotion and sense of humor.

John is survived by his wife, Monica Maxwell, two children, Jon and Desiré Maxwell, two granddaughters, and seven siblings. He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Kevin and Robert Jr.
