In Loving Memory of Josephine Anne Hamilton
November 13, 1946 – October 2, 2025
Josephine Anne Hamilton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and public servant,
passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born and raised in Bedford, England, Josephine carried with her a dry humor, a no-
nonsense approach to life, and a deep pride in her heritage. She met the love of her
life, Jerry Hamilton, and together they embarked on a journey that took them across the
globe. Their marriage was a testament to adventure, partnership, and love.
Josephine’s indomitable spirit defined her. She was never intimidated—by
circumstance, challenge, or change. Her boldness and conviction led her to a
distinguished career with the U.S. State Department, where she served in various
capacities around the world. Among her many contributions, she spent time supporting
American troops in Afghanistan, embracing the role with determination and a deep
sense of purpose. Her loyalty—to her country, her family, and her values—was fierce
and unwavering.
She is survived by her husband Jerry, and her three children: Jennifer, Melissa, and
Richard. In retirement, Josephine found joy in the sunshine of San Diego, where she
embraced the warmth of family and coastal life.
Josephine will be cremated, and arrangements are being handled by Funeral
Alternatives in Poway, California. In lieu of a memorial service, the family encourages
donations in her name to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,
reflecting her lifelong commitment to compassion and care.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, loved her, and were inspired by
her strength, loyalty, and fierce love.
