Kenneth Revoir Obituary

Kenneth R. Revoir passed peacefully away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the age of 98, at Vista del Lago Senior Memory Care in Escondido, California with loving family (Nancy and Lee) at his bedside.  He was hoping to reach 100 years of age.  His passing was exactly six weeks following the death of his wife, Naomi Revoir.

Ken was born in Michigan on July 24, 1920 and finished high school in 1938 before joining the United States Army.  He was an avid baseball player and was involved with musical instruments during his high school years.  He continued playing the trumpet throughout his life even with small bands. He loved Glenn Miller and Dixieland music.  He learned to fly aircraft during his teenage years. Ken was a very patriotic individual.  He served his country during World War II in the Army/Air Corp as a flight instructor teaching pilots how to properly use instrumentation for navigating aircraft. His love for flying continued for his entire life.  He owned small aircraft throughout his life and even built a small airplane in his garage in 1966 when he lived in Connecticut.

Ken’s working career was with Northrop Corporation for over 30 years having retired at the age of 59.  He always commented that he had been retired longer than he worked!  He was involved with many projects while working for Northrop including the Snark Missile program in Florida in the late 1950s, the launching of primates into space paving the way for humans in space in 1968, as well as being involved with the submarine periscope design while working and living in Connecticut in the l960s.

He obtained his MBA just before he retired which was a lifelong dream that he accomplished.  His wife, Naomi, also worked at Northrop.  After their retirement, they traveled the USA and Canada extensively with their motor home for over 25 years where they enjoyed finding treasures for their collections.  Ken enjoyed finding old radios and would refurbish and sell at antique meets with his friend, Al as “Ken’s Antique Radios”.  He also enjoyed finding and repairing antique clocks.

He leaves behind his son, Frederick Andre Revoir (Patricia) of Salem, Connecticut as well as his stepchildren, Nancy Havens (Lee) of Escondido, California;  Larry VaNouse of Vista, California; Vicki Pope (David) of Cornville, AZ; and Jeffrey Welcome (Lorraine) of Mystic, Connecticut.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Autumn, Alexandria and Lucas Revoir; Alyssa, Sarah and Jesse Havens; Ashley Smith and Katherine and Eric Welcome.

Ken always said that he had a good life and he would not change anything.

Burial will be at the Miramar National Cemetery next to his wife of 44 years, Naomi. A family celebration of life for both Ken and Naomi will be in July to celebrate both their birthdays.
