Lucy Ann Qualey/Lucille Bonacker
Our dear mother, Lucy Ann Qualey/ Lucille Bonacker, 98, of Poway, California passed away of natural causes on September 28, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in 1925 to Michael and Rachel Novellino in Brooklyn, New York. She was 2nd to youngest and the last surviving of five siblings; Carmela, Nicholas, Peter, and Theresa. In 1946 she married Gustave A. Bonacker. They had three children; Clifford, Susan Noe and Kenneth. After a long happy marriage, she became widowed. In 1977 she married Ellsworth F. Qualey. Together they enjoyed retired life, being active and enjoying time with their combined family until Ellsworth's passing in 2002. She continued to live an active life enjoying various activities, including being a Champion Bridge player and artist. She was noted to be an excellent cook and gracious hostess ever ready to serve others. She had a special endearing ability to get along with everyone. Lucy loved spending time with family and friends. The Bible’s promise of the resurrection based on Jesus’ sacrifice is a hope from which she drew much comfort.
Lucy is survived by her cousin Helen Bonfiglio, 3 children, 5 step children (Carolyn Ypma preceded her in death), 11 grandchildren, some of whom she helped raise for a time (Rachel and Kelly), 14 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She loved and took much interest in all their lives. Her love was greatly appreciated and she is dearly missed.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date, please contact Susan for more information. susan7noe@gmail.com
