In Loving Memory of Lynn Alison Kendall (née McCarty)
November 27, 1951 – June 22, 2025
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Lynn Alison Kendall, who peacefully left us on June 22, 2025, in Poway, California, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on November 27, 1951, in San Diego, Lynn was a beacon of love, warmth, and creativity to all who knew her. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, her light touched the hearts of many, and her presence will forever be cherished.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, James McCarty and Geraldine Handel, and her beloved brother, Steven McCarty. She is deeply mourned and survived by her son, Chris Dow; her daughter, Laurie Dow; and her treasured granddaughters, Tia Stark Poritz and Alyssa Stark.
In 1972, Lynn married Fred Dow, also of San Diego, and together they built a beautiful life in Ramona, California, raising their two children in a home filled with love. Though they later parted ways in 1989, the memories of their shared years continued to be a cherished part of Lynn’s heart.
Family was everything to Lynn. She shared a unique and loving bond with many relatives, especially her dear aunts, uncle, and cousins—most notably Dorothy Weinschenk, Norma O'Dell, Carol McCarty, Nancy McCarty, and Ralph McCarty. Her kind spirit, infectious laughter, and generous heart made her a joy to be around and left an indelible mark on everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
Lynn was a truly creative soul, with a passion for crafts that allowed her to express herself in beautiful and meaningful ways. Whether she was beading, making candles, or indulging in other artistic pursuits, her hands created with love. She also had a lifelong devotion to animals, especially her beloved cat, Maggie, who brought her so much comfort and companionship.
In her later years, Lynn found joy in traveling across the country with her Uncle Ralph. Together, they explored new places, visited family, and savored quiet moments at his beach house in Mississippi—a time that brought her much peace and happiness.
Lynn’s family honored her life with a private ceremony, celebrating her legacy and the love she gave so freely. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the kindness she instilled in us all.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Lynn’s memory by donating to or volunteering at your local animal shelter—a beautiful tribute to the lifelong love and compassion she had for animals.
Lynn will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
