Mabel "Louise" Barra was born in Edinburg, Indiana to James Franklin Black and Hazel Elizabeth Black on October 14, 1926. Survivors are daughter Madeleine Bowans of Escondido, CA, son Albert Daney of Portland, OR., stepdaughters Susanne Barra of San Diego and Angela Barra of Berkeley, CA. She was also "Tutu" to three grandchildren, Marc Barra of Kailua, Hawaii, Emmanuel Barra of Oakland, CA. and Jennifer Barra of Berkeley, CA.
Louise moved her family to San Diego in 1957 where she met her much loved husband of 31 years, Richard Barra, who pre-deceased her in 1996. Together they were able to travel extensively including living 18 years in Oahu, Hawaii before moving into their home in Escondido in 1982. Louise had many friends in Hawaii and California, and she cherished them all. She was always kind and willing to help any friend who called on her and she was loved by everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
Louise was 96 years old.
