Margaret Ann Dawson, 87, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, at Pacifica Senior
Living, Vista CA.
Margaret was the 3rd child born to Thomas and Margaret Frick on November 25, 1936, in
Johnstown, PA.
Margaret graduated Central Catholic High School, Johnstown PA in 1954 and married James
Dawson in June of 1957. In 1959 they moved to Maywood, CA where Margaret became a
Homemaker and raised their 4 children. They enjoyed their retirement in Prescott, AZ, until
Jim’s death in 2006.
Margaret was known for her gentle spirit, her creativity, and her love of family.
One of her greatest joys came from the laughter of her grandchildren. She delighted spending
time with them whether it be baking cookies, playing card games or simply coloring.
She found joy in the beauty of nature and spent countless hours in her garden cultivating
flowers. She especially loved her rose gardens and her Christmas cactus.
Her love of needlepoint was a testament to her patience and precision crafting
pieces that now serve as treasured family keepsakes.
Margaret loved holiday baking, as she baked treats that filled her home with warmth, spice and
sweetness, leaving fond memories for all who gathered around the table.
For a bit of fun, Margaret enjoyed visiting the casino to try her luck at the penny slots, often
returning with tales of near wins. She also loved to play Bingo and was a fierce competitor.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, James and her son, David.
Margaret is survived by her daughters; Kathy, Patty and MaryAnn (John), 8 grandchildren; Tony,
Michelle, Bucky, Amber, Kimber, Brian, Steven and Mike. She is also survived by her 10 great
grandchildren: Brayden, Avarie, IzaByllah, Dawson, AriEyllah, Kaitlyn, George, JP, Jaden and
Caleb.
A special Thank You to the staff at Pacifica Senior Living, Vista for the gracious, kind and
compassionate care they showed our mom during the last years of her life.
Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit lives on in the beauty of every bloom, the stitch
of every piece and the laughter shared in her memory. She will be deeply missed, but never
forgotten.
