Beloved wife and mother, Marsha LeNette Snay Harden, 85, of San Marcos, CA, and formerly of Munroe Falls, OH, passed away on October 1, 2021.
Marsha was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2020. She is survived by her daughter Vicki Harden, son Daniel Harden (Mardea), son Lewis Harden (Susan), son Matthew Harden (Deborah), and daughter Rebecca Harden Adams (Jonathan), 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Frank Snay and sister Betsy Snay Miskell, nephews and nieces and their children, as well as extended family and friends.
Marsha was born in Long Beach California on August 30, 1936. The oldest daughter of Charles and Hattie Snay, Marsha grew up as a “Navy brat,” travelling with her parents, brother, sister both overseas and stateside. Married in Norfolk VA, she and Richard lived in Ohio, settling in Munroe Falls in 1964. She worked in administrative assistant positions at Kent State University for about 25 years, where she earned her BA. The couple moved to San Marcos in 2001. Once again Marsha was a California girl!
Marsha’s greatest love was her family. She worked diligently to ensure her children remained close to their parents and to each other. While physically separated from three of them in Ohio, she had several visits, including for her 60th wedding anniversary and the marriage of her youngest, Rebecca, to Jonathon. She was active in her church, an ardent quilter, voracious reader, and lover of pets (especially cats). She never lost her love of learning or travel, and shared family vacations to Alaska, Europe, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean.
"Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31:31
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the San Diego Humane Society. Marsha’s pets were usually rescues. She volunteered for a local pet rescue organization in Ohio for many years. She would be honored to be remembered with a donation for her furry children.
Marsha’s Memorial Service will be held October 30, 2021 at 10:00 am. It will be at the San Marcos Lutheran Church on Grand Avenue in San Marcos. Pastor David Jorstad will officiate. All who want to remember and honor Marsha are welcome. For more information, contact Vicki Harden at 2catluvr@gmail.com.
