Mauddill Webb

Mauddill Webb, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2022 in Poway, California. She was a cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

Mauddill was born at her family’s farm in Peacock, TX on September 3, 1926, the youngest daughter of John Patton and Carrie Hallford. Mauddill married Jesse E. Webb, a WW2 veteran and former POW, on October 13, 1946.

During the 1960s, Mauddill was the owner of the Beehive Beauty Shop in Orosi, California. After moving back to Abernathy, TX, she attended nursing school and then worked at the Lubbock State School for 20 years. She truly enjoyed being a nurse and caring for “her children,” as she lovingly called them. She retired and moved to Poway in 1987, where she lived for 34 years, without ever losing her Texas twang. (I’ll be jiggered!) She loved spending time with family, but her favorite thing to do was to watch her great-grandkids play sports. She was their biggest fan.

Maudill was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, her three sisters, and their husbands; Audrey and John Parker, Wenonah and D.H. Toney, and Lenetta and Wayne Dubose. She is survived by her daughter and son, and their families.

Maudill’s daughter, Mary Beth Gaut, and her husband Ron, live in Poway. Grandchildren Jennifer (and Phil) Plantier, Ethan (and Maureen) Meadows, and Jeremy (and Gabby) Meadows, also live in California, as do their children (Ryan, Tyler, and Emily Plantier and Zoey and Zachary Meadows). Grandsons Brian (and Suzy) Gaut and Andrew (and Kristin) Gaut reside in Florida.

Mauddill’s son, Jesse E. Webb, Jr., and his wife Beth, live in San Angelo, TX. Grandchildren Jimmy Webb, Teresa Webb, and Ashlee (and Josh) Tally and their children, also live in Texas. Granddaughter Stacia (and George) Gibbs, reside in Arkansas with their children. Altogether, Mauddill has 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren on the Texas side of her family.

An outdoor memorial service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm
