Michael Allen Baucom, born on February, 1955, passed away at his Iron Mountain home, in Poway, California, on November 29 2024. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Mike was a loving, giving, stubbornly adventurous guy who never passed up opportunity for a good tall-tale story or prank, and was known for always lending a helping hand in any way he could.
Mike is survived by his beloved “bride”, Sherry Baucom. Married for 44 years, they shared a life full of love and exploration. Enjoying retirement, they embraced the cruise ship life, creating cherished memories with their best friends. His adventurous spirit was evident in his love for hunting, fishing, and traveling, often taking to the open road in his motorhome to explore new destinations. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Oregon Ducks and SDSU Aztecs, proudly displaying his memorabilia on his walls and clothing. He was an avid bass guitar player, spending weekends jamming out in his garage. He was a big proponent of agriculture, encouraging both of his daughters to be heavily involved in Poway and Ramona 4- Clubs. He loved spending time with his granddaughters, showing up and supporting them at different school and sports events.
Mike leaves behind his daughters, Casey Baucom and Charisse McLean, and his son-in-law, Ryan McLean, who were the light of his life and will forever cherish his guidance and love. His granddaughters, Aubrey McLean and Alyssa McLean, were shining stars in his life, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and growth. Michael is also survived by his brothers, Rick Baucom and Bo Baucom, with whom he shared a lifelong bond.
Mike’s legacy is one of love, laughter, adventure, and ridiculous stories. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. The family will be holding a celebration of Life gathering o Sunday, January 5th from 2:00-4:00pm at Living Way Church, located at 13609 Twin Peaks Road, Poway, CA 92064. Condolences, flowers, and funny stories are welcome, as we say goodbye and celebrate a life well-lived, and a man deeply loved.
