Michele Deloris De Soto

Michele Deloris De Soto, a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, in Escondido, CA. She was 75 years old.
Born in Santa Monica and raised in Van Nuys, Michele was a woman of deep faith, nurtured first in the Lutheran tradition and later in the evangelical faith. She graduated from Birmingham High School and earned her Associate of Arts degree from Pierce College.
In June 1970, she married the love of her life, Gerald De Soto. Together, they welcomed their only son, Jared, in 1983.
Michele was a talented artist with a passion for painting landscapes, country life, people, animals, and wildlife. Her creative spirit also found expression in ceramics and decorating. She was an accomplished professional, serving as an Executive Assistant for both MetLife and DeSoto General Contractors.
Michele’s heart was filled with love for her family and friends. She was a quiet and caring woman, known for her honesty, hospitality, and kindness. She had a service mindset, always willing to lend a helping hand. Her hard-working nature extended to her hobbies, where she found joy in gardening and wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.
She delighted in the beauty of nature, finding solace at the beach, in the park, and surrounded by wildlife. She loved to swim, read, travel, and use her timeshare. She had a special fondness for turtles and children. Michele also had a love for dancing and music.
Michele is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald De Soto; her loving son, Jared De Soto; her brother, Kent Pleak; Daughter-in-Law, Karen De Soto; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and June Pleak.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 4th at 1 PM PST at Emmanuel Faith Church in Escondido, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Amyloidosis Research Consortium in Michele’s name.
Michele will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, and creativity will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
