Michelle Averett Obituary

Mickey was born on November 26, 1971 in Kingsville TX.  Her family moved to La Jolla, CA shortly after, where she was raised and grew up surrounded by sunny weather, palm trees and beaches.  Since then, she has considered herself a "California girl".  Mickey attended Temecula Valley High School in Temecula, CA and completed her education at Westland High School in Evergreen, CO. Her children were born and raised in Plano, TX where she started a family and worked in the medical industry while also providing pet care for animals that required medication.  Mickey met and dated the Love of Her Life, Todd Averett, for five years before getting married on June 30, 2017 at a chapel in Las Vegas, NV.  A second ceremony was performed for friends and family on October 19, 2017 in Allen, TX.  She moved with her husband to Wichita, KS where he was assigned by the U.S. Army and Mickey continued her career in pet care.  After completing his tour in 2022, Todd requested reassignment orders and was finally able to bring Mickey back home to Southern California.

Mickey was an exceptional human being with a beautiful soul that could light up a room and make people feel seen.  She was full of kindness, compassion and generosity who loved everyone unconditionally despite her past hardships.  She would drop whatever she was doing to offer support and listen to anyone in need of help or advice, touching so many lives and earning her the endearing sobriquet of "Mama Mickey".  Mickey was a staunch supporter of and had many close friends in the LGBTQ community. She was privileged and honored to share in the personal journey of transgender patients from her work in the medical industry.  She was so proud of her children, and passionate about being a mother and devoted wife.  She enjoyed laughing uncontrollably with them while quoting lines from "Seinfeld" and old movies.  Her vice was watching the Bravo channel and she had a lifelong celebrity crush and love of Harrison Ford. Mickey had a deep devotion and love of animals and took great pleasure and satisfaction working in pet care. She earned the loyalty of her clients, and the trust and love of their "fur babies" who were always so excited to see her.  Mickey was so happy to return home to Southern California and experienced great joy dipping her toes in the sands of its beaches.  She was loving life before it was tragically cut short...way too soon.

Mickey is survived by her husband of 6 years, Todd Glenn Averett of Menifee CA, her son Nicholas Brandon of Plano, TX; her daughter Madeline Brandon of Plano, TX; her mother Linda (Aubertin) Barnett of Carlsbad, CA; her adoptive mother Rebecca Moore of Edmond, OK; and her four sisters Aurora Perry of Laatzen, Germany; Gwyn Miller of Collierville, TN; Kathryn Falk of Driftwood, TX; and Laurel Percival of Oklahoma City, OK; two nephews, four nieces, and many more loving family members and close friends.

She is predeceased by her father Lorenzo Sein of El Paso, TX.

A memorial service will take place in November with the date, time, and location to be announced.

"If I should go tomorrow, It would never be goodbye.

For I have left my heart with you, so don't you ever cry.

That love that's deep within me, shall reach you from the stars,

You'll feel it from the heavens, and it will heal your scars"
