Mrs. Ae Zu Lee

Mrs. Ae Zu Lee passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023, at Villa Rancho Bernardo Care Center in San Diego, California at the age of 93, under hospice care. She battled Parkinson's for the past 3 years losing mobility in her legs.
She was born in Masan, Korea, to father elder Eun Soo Kim and mother Bok Do Kim. She was the oldest of four siblings, younger brother Dae Chan, late younger sister In Sook and youngest brother Dae Won. She married Rev. Eung Kyun Lee in 1950 at the onset of the Korean War. A grade-school teacher, she was married for 57 years to her husband who served in ministry in the Methodist Church for 38 years. She served with her husband in their ministry, including as a missionary family in Vietnam during the War from 1967 to 1970.
The family immigrated to the U.S. in 1970 to Los Angeles where she served as a dynamic, faithful pastor's wife in several United Methodist Church congregations in Los Angeles and Honolulu until they retired in 1988. They moved to Eugene, Oregon, Santa Barbara and San Diego for their years in retirement. As a devout Christian she continued to serve the church in evangelism and outreach and spiritual growth through deep Bible reading, and other service to the church, like writing columns for the church newsletter and singing in the senior choir.
She is survived by two children, Samuel and daughter-in-law Young; and Sung-ok and late son-in-law Sangmok; five grandchildren, Deborah & husband Brian, Daniel & wife Rachel & 100 days old daughter Abigail, Elizabeth, Solgil and Crystal.
A memorial service will be held for her on May 6, 2023, 3:00 PM at the Korean United Methodist Church of San Diego, 6701 Convoy Ct., San Diego, CA 92111
