Nancy McConville Obituary

Nancy J. McConville, born March 14, 1935, passed peacefully on February 8, 2024. Nancy (Crow) was born in 1935 in the tiny town of Lostine, in Eastern Oregon. Nancy’s parents taught her independence and hard work. She enjoyed working with customers at the family’s small General Store. After high school, Nancy and all her siblings left to see the world. Nancy started college, but then shifted her efforts toward other goals. She worked for United Airlines and was transferred to Hawaii where she met her future husband, Jim McConville (deceased 2023). Nancy and Jim married in 1960.

Jim’s career as a Naval Officer took them to Hawaii, Newport, RI. and San Diego, CA. numerous times while raising four kids and always a dog or two. Jim was often on deployment, so Nancy did her best to maintain order, always saying “it’ll work out,” with each new challenge they faced. She had the strength and grace a military wife requires, conquering life’s challenges head-on, without complaint.

While raising children, Nancy worked as a Travel Consultant at various agencies. Later, she purchased a travel agency in Ramona, where she helped her clients and continued to travel throughout the world with Jim. She sold the agency just as people began using the internet to self-book their trips.

In retirement, Nancy enjoyed travelling and visiting her adult children and their families. She loved dance and sports. Throughout her life, Nancy would attend every event possible for her children and grandchildren, to cheer them on.

Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers Dallas and David, and her son Kevin. Her surviving siblings are Betty Sims and Steven Crow. Nancy is survived by her sons Kelly and Peter, daughter Megan and their respective spouses and children.

A private celebration of life will be held in Del Mar, with her final resting place at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA.
