Phyllis Lorraine Garcia

Our beloved mother, Phyllis Lorraine Garcia, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus and eternal life in Heaven on October 28, 2021.

Phyllis was born to Leonard and Berenice Haugen on December 26, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa.  She had one brother, Douglas Dean Haugen, born in 1944 and passed away in 2000. Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Monte Ray Mosier, in 1951 and they had three children together.  Monte passed away in 1962 and then she met and married, Donald James Garcia, in 1963.  They moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Donald adopted her three children and her son with Donald was born.  Donald passed away in 1990 and Phyllis relocated to Escondido, California in 2000.

Phyllis loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus, and sharing her Christian faith with family, friends and all those around her.  She attended Community Lutheran Church in Escondido.  Phyllis loved her family and was a devoted and caring mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She liked to laugh and have fun and brought joy to those who knew her.  She will be deeply missed and will be in our hearts forever.

Phyllis worked as an administrative secretary for Bergan Mercy Hospital and Home Care from 1978-2000 in Omaha.  In California, she volunteered from 2001-2020 at the Palomar Hospital birthing center and the cardiac rehabilitation center.  Phyllis lived an active life and swam with a dolphin named Toby for her 80th birthday.  She enjoyed knitting items for charity, working jig saw puzzles, cross stitching and sending greeting cards to shut ins and friends.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Berenice, brother Douglas and husbands Monte and Donald.

Phyllis is survived by her children with Monte: Jeffrey Kirk Garcia, Kimberly Jane Garcia and Cynthia Sue Garcia and her son with Donald:  Michael James Garcia.  She is also survived by her grandchildren:  Nathan Charles Garcia, Lorraine Marie Garcia-Cova, Jeffrey Dean Garcia, Ellen Brook Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Hailey Garcia and Colton Garcia and great-grandchildren: Trenton Aaron Garcia and Kaedyn, Bella, Taylor and Christian Cova.

Memorial service will be held at Community Lutheran Church in Escondido on December 2, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.
