R. Keith Evans passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Friday, December 11, 2020. Keith was raised in a small Welsh village near Cardiff. He was an exploration geologist by profession, spending 12 years mapping Nyasaland, now Malawi, before returning to UK then the USA. He spent 20 years mapping and investigating several large sites throughout the world until retiring in 2010. He was an unsung hero providing expertise on lithium mining that would eventually allow for the development of the lithium in energy and medicine. His profession took him and his family across continents, his favorite places included Malawi, Chile, Colorado and his final home city, San Diego, Ca. Across all travels, he held everything Welsh close to his heart including Welsh male voice choirs, rugby, cricket, and still craved his favorite home cooked meals. But, he also gladly adopted new world pleasures like the Denver Broncos, enchiladas, and PBS. Even after retiring, Keith continued consulting, participating in foreign home exchanges, leisurely cruises, and when home, spent quality time with family and friends. He had several medical challenges over the last 2 decades, and remained courageous and valiant. We remember the Welsh national anthem, Land of Our Fathers, as a constant in the soundtrack of his life - stirring fond memories of shared life events.
We will fondly remember your tongue in cheek humour. Thank you for keeping us grounded, and showing us what really counts in life. Ta everso, your family. Nos da for now.
Survived by his wife of 64 years, Anne, his 3 children - Hugh, Liz, Jonathan, his granddaughters Claire, Rachael, Catherine, and Leah - and his great grandson Amauri.
