Robert Peyton Burton

Robert Peyton Burton of Poway, California, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, March 16, 2025.

Robert “Bob” was born May 21, 1940, in San Diego to Sabra (Harwood) and Peyton Burton. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Jack, whom he called “Pretty Lady” on April 15, 1961. Bob served in the U.S. Navy from September 1958 to September 1962. He worked as a Quality assurance specialist at North Island Rework Facility for over 35 years.

Bob was active in the Boy Scouts and the Knights of Columbus 6031. He and Carolyn cared for special needs children, with over 300 foster children under their care. Bob has ten children, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife Carolyn of 64 years, brother Ken (wife Sharon), son Duane (wife Sherry), and daughters Tricia (husband Bill), Lori (husband Jeff), son Stan, and daughters Vicky and Brianna. Bob was preceded in death by his children, Marjorie, Jason, Robbie, and Desiree.

Thank you for your prayers and support in this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Knights of Columbus (KOC  6031) in memory of Robert Burton to support other needy families as they have supported us during this difficult time.

A Funeral Mass at Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church (Poway, CA) will be held on March 27 th at 10:30 a.m., with a reception to follow the service and a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Dearborn Memorial Park (Poway, CA).
