Rose Scialdone Cole Obituary

My Ma, my Italian angel Rosa Patrizia Scialdone Cole loved to sing and three months shy of her 99th birthday, she joined the choir of angels.

While her given name was Rosa, she went by Rose, but her favorite name was Nana. Everyone called her Nana – family, friends, family-friends, all knew and loved Nana, and all will miss her so very much.

Nana outlived her husband, Jack, eleven siblings and two sons. She was the matriarch of five generations.

Three children: Thomas and twins 'Carol & Robert'.

Four grandchildren: Joey - He cheered her on every day to keep living. They were Scrabble buddies. Denise Denée & Vincent - ANYTHING they could do for Nana they did. No matter when, no matter how much, they always made Nana feel special.

Lainie Rose (deceased) has been waiting to give her Nana a hug for a long time.
Robert “Steve” finally found his way home to his Italian side of the family. He made up for lost time and showered his Nana with love and attention. That's why she called him the "sweetiest".

Eleven great-grandchildren: Robyn , Kaleigh, Victoria Rose, Vanessa, Olivia, Dylan, Corryn, Connor, Ridley, Wynter, and Seth.

Two great-great-grandchildren: Haylee Rae and Luke.

For the last 21 years, Nana lived with her daughter, Carol, and son (in-law) Joe.

With just one day notice, family gathered at her bedside to re-live their love for their Nana.
Two things happened that must have made Nana smile. First, her grandson Robert "Steve" (paramedic) transported her home and placed her in her bed. Second, her granddaughter Denise found an Italian mortuary.

As she did in life, Nana showed us that Sadness and Joy can happen at the same time. While we may be smiling through our tears, we know that Nana will live on in our memories – memories of “little lambs eating ivy”, spaghetti and meatballs, bingo cards and Nana kisses, but most of all loving us the “mostest and the bestest in the whole wide world and universe.”

Nana, we love YOU the mostest and the bestest!
