Steven Joseph Bossi passed away on February 17, 2024 from complications of Sarcomatoid Carcinoma of the lung. He was born to Steve and Jeanette (Pieroni) Bossi in Alameda, CA on October 22, 1948. Steve was a loving father, brother and friend. He is survived by three children: Monica Bossi, Steven Bossi and Krista Bossi and his siblings: Paul (Sharon) Bossi, Mary Bossi and his sister-in-law Colleen Bossi. Steve was predeceased by brother Mark Bossi.
Steve was a strong person who had to overcome some childhood challenges. He lost his father at an early age and an accident left him with one severely compromised foot. Still he was a strong athlete all his life.
After high school he began a successful career in computing. Spending most of his career within community college districts, he started as a computer programmer and ended his career as Director of IT for Southwestern College.
Steve’s real passion was in remaining active and competitive. His love for sailing was a constant source of joy when he was younger, especially on the waters of San Francisco Bay. An avid cyclist, and a skilled fly fisherman, he found solace in the outdoors. His passion for fly fishing and his inventive mind led him to design, manufacture and patent the Drift-Rite strike indicator.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Steve’s home and all are welcome to join on March 16th at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Villa de Vida in Poway, CA at villadevida.org/donate. They provide services for adults with disabilities, including Steve’s daughter Monica.
