Thomas (Tom) Gilbert Allison
Born - February 19, 1944 in Newcastle, PA to Oscar and Dorothy Allison. He is the 7th of 9 children.
He entered his final rest on June 22, 2021 in Escondido, CA.
Tom was preceded in death by both parents, Oscar and Dorothy, two brothers Robert (Bob) and William (Bunk), two sisters Shirley Ferrell and Beverly (Bev) Neitz.
He is survived by brothers Ray and George of California, Sisters Dolly Timberlake of New Mexico and Noelene Timberlake of Virginia, Sister-in-laws Joann, Ruthann, Sharon and Treva.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews plus a host of friends from all over the country.
Tom spent his early childhood in Pennsylvania. Partly on a farm, the last home his family lived in still remains in the family. The Allison family moved to California in 1954 and Tom graduated from Bellflower high school in 1963. Tom's love of photography began in high school and continued throughout his life.
Tom served in the US navy from September 1963 until September 1967. He is a Vietnam Veteran and used his photography skills for the Navy. Tom Attended Long Beach College and received a degree in Advertising Design with Photography as a specialty.
Tom held several jobs after the Navy. He worked for Douglas Aircraft, Sears & Roebucks and in the mid-70's opened his own photography studio. He worked for a mapping company doing aerial photography. His last employment was with Nestle Water where he worked until he retired.
Tom traveled for work and was able to scout out old photos on his trips collecting thousands and creating a website to match families with missing photos to complete their family lineage.
Tom married in 1979 was divorced and finally widowed. He never remarried.
He moved to Florida in the early 1990's and was active in the Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce doing photography and the Temple Terrace Community Church and Catholic Food Bank. Tom moved back to California in August of 2017 due to some health issues. He lived with his Brother Ray and Sister-in-law Sharon until 2019 when he moved into an assisted living facility where Tom was the resident Flirt, he proposed to 2 staff members and 1 resident!!!
He loved life and his wish is to be remembered with a smile on his face and either a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in his hand!
He will be missed. May he rest in peace until we meet again.
