Tomiko Niino Myers Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Tomiko Niino Myers, who left this world on
March 17, 2025. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend,
Tomiko’s presence brought joy and laughter to all who knew her.

Born on January 21, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan, Tomiko grew up surrounded by the rich culture of
her homeland. It was there that she met the love of her life, Adam Roy Myers, while he was
stationed in Tokyo with the U.S. Air Force. Their love story spanned decades and continents as
they built a life together, raising four children and moving frequently with the military before
settling in Louisiana, Missouri, where they spent the majority of their years together.

Tomiko was a woman of remarkable resilience. She overcame adversity with strength and
determination, learning English as a second language and working diligently to build a life for
her family. She was resourceful—some might even say a collector—believing that everything
had a purpose and might one day be useful.

Known for her quick wit and unfiltered honesty, Tomiko had a knack for making people
laugh—sometimes leaving them wondering whether she was joking or just being candid. But
behind her sharp humor was a heart full of generosity and warmth. She never arrived anywhere
empty-handed, always bringing a small gift, a homemade dish, or a kind gesture to share.

Tomiko was endlessly creative, finding joy in crafting intricate origami cranes, beaded jewelry,
and cozy knitted blankets. She loved to cook and delighted in preparing meals for others, never
turning down a request for a favorite dish. She had a deep appreciation for music, especially the
sounds of country music and Elvis.

Above all, Tomiko treasured her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband,
Adam Myers, in 1998. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through her children:
April Reiko Niino (Stephen Parmley), Sherri Rollins (Tom Rollins II), August Myers (Christy
Myers) and Marta Gillilan; her grandchildren: Matthew Camara, Linus (Everlin) Camara,
Thomas (Eryn) Rollins III, Carly Rollins, Alex Myers, Samuel Myers, Vincent Myers, Haley
Gillilan, and Nathan Gillilan; and her great-grandchildren: Matthew Camara, Pilot Camara,
Violet Rollins, and Alexander Myers.

A private family service will be held at a later date to honor her memory.

Tomiko’s spirit will live on in the laughter she shared, the gifts she gave, and the love she poured
into every moment. She was one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed.
