Toshiko Greed, née Sato, was born on January 5, 1936, in Tokyo Japan. She peacefully passed away on Jun 1, 2023. Toshiko’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication to God and to her Family.
Toshiko’s life took a fateful turn when she met William Greed, during his service in the Navy while stationed in Japan and they wed and were blessed with four children. Cheryl, Jackie, Nicole and Billy who brought immeasurable joy and purpose to Toshiko’s life.
A devoted and talented cook’s assistant, Toshiko dedicated her professional life to the restaurant industry, particularly Japanese cuisine. She delighted patrons as well as her friends with her culinary skills leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough taste her creations. Toshiko’s nurturing nature extended beyond the kitchen as she also worked as a dedicated nanny, caring for children with love and tenderness.
Toshiko’s faith held a special place in her heart. For over 45 years, she was an active and cherished member of the San Diego Japanese Christian Church, finding solace and strength within the congregation. Her commitment to her faith and the church community inspired those around her.
San Diego, California, became Toshiko’s cherished home, providing a nurturing environment for her family. It was a place where she created lifelong memories, shared laughter, and found peace in the company of loved ones.
In accordance with her wishes, Toshiko’s ashes will be scattered in the ocean during a private ceremony, symbolizing her eternal connection to the vast beauty of nature. A celebration of her remarkable life will be held on July 22, 2023 at 10:30am at the San Diego Japanese Christian Church. Following the service, a lunch reception will provide an opportunity for family and friends to share cherished memories and celebrate the legacy of Toshiko Greed.
Rest in peace, dear Toshiko. You will be deeply missed, by your legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
