Virginia Lee (Ginny) Nanninga was born March 6, 1926 in Dundee, Michigan and passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 near San Marcos, CA. Virginia is survived by her daughter Cynthia Roper (Lou) of San Marcos, CA; her son Glenn Wiessner (Cherise) of La Habra, CA; her sister Audrey Tremlin (Clare) of Grants Pass, OR; 4 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, and also siblings Frances Hansen, Calvin Tinsman, William Tinsman, and Carole Rosencrans.
Virginia was the third of six children born to Jennie and Gregory Tinsman of Dundee, MI. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Dundee High School. She was employed as a secretary to the Sales Manager at Monroe Auto Equipment Co., and later became a mother and homemaker. In 1946, she married Kenneth Wiessner and moved to California where they lived happily for their 28 years of marriage. Several years after Kenneth’s passing in 1974, she married Tjaart Nanninga M.D. and enjoyed 21 years of marriage until his passing in 1999. Virginia was an avid baker who also loved bowling and being outside in her garden tending her roses and feeding “her” hummingbirds. She was a member of Meadowlark Community Church in San Marcos, CA.
Her family and friends will miss her positive attitude, thoughtfulness, unconditional love, and delicious pies.
