William (Bill) Albert Edwards

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Albert Edwards, who left us on August 21, 2024, at the age of 73. A devoted husband, loving brother and uncle, and cherished friend, Bill was known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, friendliness, dry sense of humor, bravery and unwavering strength. He dedicated his life to hard work and showed an extraordinary commitment to his family, loving them fiercely and inspiring those around him with his generous spirit. Bill loved to camp, golf and spend time with his loved ones.

Bill was born at Mercy Hospital in San Diego and named after both his grandfathers. He grew up in Holtville until the age of seven and moved to Phoenix, Arizona for six months and then back to Holtville, then Pomona and Solana Beach. When he was ten, he moved to Oceanside. Bill graduated from Oceanside High School 1969. Bill worked for Scott Roofing as a truck driver, beginning at the age of 16. He married the love of his life, Barbara Bullington on August 8, 1981, in Las Vegas. Bill and Barb moved to Carlsbad in 1986 and enjoyed their lives together to the fullest.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Barb Edwards and many family members who loved him greatly. He also leaves behind his sister and brother-n-law, Joda and Dan Glassey, and his sister-in-law, Cindy Wood, and sister/brother-in-law, Carol and Chris Griffin, who were the light of his life. Bill is survived by his nephews and nieces, Danny and Debby, Ashley and Amanda, and Amy and Jennie. Bill loved spending time with all the grand-nephews and grand-nieces too. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Maddux Edwards and father, Joe R. Edwards. His legacy of love and dedication will live on in their hearts.

Bill touched the lives of many, and his memory will be forever cherished. A celebration of his life will be held on October 26, 2024, at the Women’s Club of Carlsbad at 3:00 - 5:30 PM, where family and friends are invited to share their memories and honor a remarkable man.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers (t2t.org), a cause close to Bill’s heart. Bill will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
